NEWS | BKPM tops KPK 2011 integrity survey
The Jakarta Post, Jakarta | Mon, 11/28/2011 3:01 PM The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) presented the result of its 2011 integrity survey on Monday, with the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) topping its list on the integrity of state institutions.
The BKPM scored 7.6 percent in the integrity index, exceeding the average national index of 6.31 percent.
In second place was the Health Ministry (7.52) and state insurance firm PT Jamsostek (7.52), followed by the Industry Ministry (7.51), state-owned Tanjung Priok port operator PT Pelindo II (7.5), the Transportation Ministry (7.47), the Maritime Affairs and Fisheries Ministry (7.46), the Agriculture Ministry (7.45), the Communications and Information Technology Ministry (7.43) and the National Education Ministry (7.41).
The survey result shows that the central government agencies on average score higher, with average integrity ranking of 7.07 percent, compared to local administration agencies, which scored an average of 6 percent.
KPK deputy chairman M Jasin said the integrity survey involved a total of 89 institutions, including 22 central government institutions. A total of 37 agencies recorded integrity values below the national average. Jasin said the KPK had questioned a total of 15,540 respondents for the survey.
Indicators assessed included corruption experiences, corruption perceptions, working environments, administration systems, the behavior of individuals and corruption prevention efforts, Jasin said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
